鯖(サバ)

発音：まくろぅ

鯖は焼いたり煮たりして食べます。煮る場合の味付けは甘めの味噌か醤油味が一般的です。

We enjoy eating mackerel grilled or simmered. When simmered, it is usually seasoned with sweet miso or soy sauce.

鯵(アジ)

発音：ほーすまくるぅ

鯵は干物にして食べることが多いです。揚げ物にしたアジフライも美味しいですね。新鮮な鯵なら生で食べることができます。

We often enjoy horse mackerel as a dried fish on the grill. The fried ones, known as Aji-fry, are also delightful. Fresh horse mackerels can be savored without being cooked.

アジフライはスーパーのお惣菜売り場でよく見かけます。

You can often find fried horse mackerels in the deli section of supermarkets.

Japanese zelkova

ザ(ﾙ)コバ

駅前の通りはケヤキの並木になっていて良い雰囲気です。

The street in front of the station looks nice, with those zelkova trees lining it.

ケヤキは非常に硬く、耐水性と耐久性に優れています。ケヤキは伝統的な日本家屋や社寺仏閣の建材としてよく使用されています。

Zelkova is very hard and has excellent water resistance and durability. Zelkova is a building material commonly used in traditional Japanese houses, shrines, and temples.
